Drawing of lots

For the individual matches A & C the following proceedings will take place: GM Hou Yifan will draw the color for the first game of the Rapid chess event (A). After that the two layers will alternate the colors throughout the 8 games of rapid chess. GM Vladimir Kramnik will draw the color for the first game of the Blitz event (C). After that the two players will alternate the colors throughout the 10 games of blitz chess

For the Round Robin events (B & D) the following proceedings will take place: for the Rapid event the 5 female players (in descending order, from highest rated to lowest rated) will draw 5 of the 10 starting numbers, then the 5 male players (in descending order, from highest rated to lowest rated) will draw the last 5 starting numbers. In the Blitz event, the players will maintain their order but will inverse the colors in comparison to the Rapid event. Through this system all players will play 9 rounds with the white pieces, and 9 rounds with the black pieces.

Tournament cross table and deciding the winner

Matches A & C will affirm the winner of the Kings Tournament Romgaz, 10th Edition as follows: the player that will win both matches, or will win one of the matches and draw the other one, will be declared the winner of the Kings Tournament Romgaz – 10th Edition. If the players will share their victories in the two tournaments (the score does not matter) the players will play an extra game of Sudden Death: GM Hou Yifan will draw between two numbers (1&2) to decide the color. If she takes number 1 then she will choose the color, if she takes number 2 then Vladimir Kramnik will choose the color in the Sudden Death game. In this game white has 5 minutes and black has 4 minutes. Black will be declared a winner if he will draw or win, white will be declared a winner only if he wins.

For tournaments B & D the points realized by the players throughout both tournaments will be counted to declare the winner of the event. If there will be a tie the following criteria will be used to determine the winner:

1.Number of victories

2.Direct encounter

3.Sonneborn

Mobile Phones and other electronic devices

The players are NOT allowed to bring any electronic device in the playing hall: cellphones will need to be checked with the arbiters before entering the playing hall. Spectators, officials, or any other person that has access in the playing hall will have to follow the same drill.

Media

Only accredited media will be allowed to take photos throughout the whole round. Flash photography will be available only in the first 3 minutes of play during the rapid stage of the event, and the first minute during the blitz stage.
