Kings Tournament ROMGAZ 2018 In Memoriam Elisabeta Polihroniade AT HOME FOR THE CENTENARY
The 12th edition of Kings Tournament ROMGAZ celebrates the centenary of the Unification Day from 1918 by inviting great players from Romania, including the Romanian diaspora. They will be fighting for the two trophies: “Kings Tournament ROMGAZ” will go to the winner of the male tournament and “In Memoriam Elisabeta Polihroniade” will be received by the winner of the women tournament. The participants of the men tournament are: GM Liviu Dieter Nisipeanu, played six times for Romania at Chess Olympiads. In year 2005 he wins the European Championship, which represents the biggest success ever achieved by a Romanian player. Starting with year 2014 Liviu Dieter plays for Germany. GM Mircea Emilian Pârligras, two times national champion. He represented Romania at eight Chess Olympiads. GM Andrei Istr??escu, also two times national champion. Played for Romania at seven Olympiads. GM Viorel Iord?chescu, leading player of Republic of Moldova. Played at multiple Olympiads for his country. The participants of the women tournament are: IM Irina Bulmaga, born in the Republic of Moldova, represented Romania at four Chess Olympiads. She is the current women national champion. IM Alina L’Ami, played at four Chess Olympiads for Romania. Nowadays she lives in the Netherlands. WGM Iozefina P?ule?, represented Romania at the Chess Olympiad in year 2008. She also lives in the Netherlands and represented her new country in the Batumi Olympiad this year. WGM Sabina Francesca Foi?or, lives in USA. She played at five Chess Olympiads for USA and became the USA female champion in year 2017.
